So I have a few pails of different weights of .228 bullets made up, getting ready to order a new barrel blank also in 0.228, has a bore of .220...............so here is my issue

If I name my case the 220 something, there is confusion because the 220 Russian shoots a .221 bullet as do all other 220 based cases....

If I convert .288 to metric I get 5.79, and 5.588 for .220 so for obvious reasons 6mm is going to be out.....

So if I base this off of a 222 rem case or a 220 Russian case necked up to take .228 bullets what am I supposed to call it?

5.5mm ppc or 228 rem

I think 5.5mm 75 grain boat tail bullets at 300 yards could be interesting...............

the .228 Russian?

Stupid question but why the odd ball .228 caliber?

I have all of the swaging gear and jackets to make 22 high power bullets by the thousand, and nothing else to use the bullets in........so why not make use of them while other bullets are so hard to obtain...............barrel is the same price regardless of caliber but bullets will be easier to source..............hope that clears things up a bit
