I got a good deal on "white box" CCI lead-free small pistol primers at a recent Victoria area gunshow ($20/1000 inc. tax). I've noticed a number of FTF's when using the primers in my 9mm S&W M&P. I know that CCI is noted for being the "hardest" primer - anybody else had similar problems?

I have some of those too, I found them problematic in revolvers as they have a lighter hammer strike than my autos.

Both my 9mm autos are fine with the CCI LF primers, they are quite a bit harder than Winchester or Federal counterparts.

Make sure the primers a fully seated in the primer pockets, This can make quite a Diference.

In my experience with regular primers, FTF issues are usually attributable to seating depth, or more rarely contamination. I have no idea what sort of contamination might affect lead-free primers - I wonder if they're more sensitive to humidity than lead primers (which are most vulnerable to oils). I remember reading somewhere that one of the big issues with leadless primers was low shelf life, likely due to humidity.

I changed the springs in my 686 smith years ago and the cci primers had a fair bit of ftf whereas the winchester primers were trouble free.I believe the federal primers were softer as well and worked good.
