Hey guys took my m&p 45 out to the range for the first time today and had a couple issues with the slide not going into full battery. I put about 150 rds through it and had this happen about 3-4 times. it would eject a case and the next one wouldn't go fully into the chamber. If I gave the slide a little slap from the back it would go in and I could fire it but wasn't sure what the hell was going on haha. Would this just be a teething issue because its new or what ? otherwise the gun seems pretty nice had a ton of fun! thanks.

oh sorry its a brand new gun. I was using blazer and American eagle 240g fmj . and I cant say if it was one round or the other that was having problems. I think it was the blazer but almost all the ammo I was using was blazer I just had a little AE.
Sounds like it might be a little tight, was it cleaned and then lubed before shooting, it's important to lube the barrel hood, where it locks up against the e-port? What you're describing sounds like either the ammo is out of spec (this happens if you try to shoot SWC's that are too long) or there is crud at the chamber mouth, preventing the round from fully seating. Other things to check are that the recoil spring is properly seated and that the mags are feeding properly - smaller caliber M&P's have had defective followers lately. Finally, how much experience do you have with polymer pistols? If your grip isn't correct, you could be taking enough momentum out of the recoil cycle to cause the gun to fail to lock up.

Then you should definitely clean (and lube) it before using it. You'd be surprised at some of the crap I've pulled out of off-the-shelf firearms. In your case, scrub the heck out of the chamber, particularly the transition from the chamber to the rifling. Somebody in the plant may have dropped half a milkshake down there.
enefgee has a good point about the barrel hood / slide lug lockup, too.But given your description of the setup, it's probably just normal break-in, possibly exacerbated by slightly long ammo. If you want to speed up break-in, strip the gun of all lubes and hand cycle and dry fire the heck out of it. Preferably with dummy rounds, so the extractor and magazines get worn in, too. Then, clean it well, lube it lightly, and run it hard. This will do wonders for your trigger pull, as well.
Hey guys thanks for the feedback. I did field strip it and oil it before I went tot he range and when I got home I gave it a very good clean out and oil. it was pretty dirty inside haha. I wouldn't say im an incredibly experienced pistol shooter but iv shot a fair bit and have been watching some magpul dynamics to help lol if that means anything. how would I be taking momentum out of the recoil to cycle it ?
You gotta be real weak to experience limp wristing, your stance has to suck so your grip along with everything else. Limp wristing should be the last thing you gotta worry about if your are half a decent shot.
This issue is simple, not sure why so much over thinking. Guns are mechanical, go with the facts, analize the gun parts. This problem has been discussed 100 times and more. Change the ammo, if that does not solve the problem, look at the barrel ramp, recoil spring, chamber, if ok, move on to the mags, is the problem happening with all mags or just 1.
