Issues with my CSA VZ 58 sporter

here, this is exactly what mine looks like, well the broken one on the left anyways...

from what I can tell they are the same pin, but that pic is of the 5.56 one, so if you have a 7.62 and it looks they same, they probably are. lemme know,

They are not the same. The tip on the 5.56 pin is a smaller diameter than the 7.62 version. In a pinch I have heard you can machine a 7.62 pin down to fit. At least that's how it was in my rifle.

Mine broke when wolverine supplies was still dealing with warranty issues. They sent a replacement ASAP, but it ended up being a 7.62 firing pin. They are NOT the same. Not only different dimensions, but if you look head on at the back end of the firing pin, 5.56 one is machined into a "cross" shape while the 7.62 one I received had a "T" shape. Apologies for the layman's terms haha.

Wolverine offered to source the proper pin but I had a big shooting weekend planned, so I had a local smith turn down the 7.62 pin for a whopping $25. No issues in 1500rds for me after the replacement, and new owner here hasn't told me of any further problems. My 0.02

Is there any reason why you couldn't just open up the firing pin channel and use factory 7.62 firing pins? You don't hear about them breaking much at all.

well it sounds like the pins are different sizes, but that is to be expected, luckily I should be able to get a part from north sylva when I call them on monday, thank you to those who gave helpfull information regarding them.

the seller is also pretty surprised, I dont think he was being disingenuous, he offered to work something out $ wize for a replacement part or gunsmithing,

I will be ordering a couple extras though, not as easy to find as extras for my AR.

Oh my god, I return to CGN after a 2 month long absents and all the new posts are, Issue with Norc M14S x12!, Issue with CSA Vz 58 x2!, Issue with CZ 712, ammo issues! So many issues..... I don't want to buy guns anymore.

Yes, a little disheartening isn't it. Although my CSA went back after 50 rounds, my M305 is 1200 rounds in with maybe 9 stove pipes and my CQA is 2000 rounds in with a half a dozen ftf's. All that with Norc ammo.

Not a Norc add, just think there is a lot of luck (or lack thereof) to which unit you end with. There are brands with zero QA, and brands with perceived QA. For me, the only difference between the two has been PRICE!

well, thanks again guys, got north sylva on the phone and it was as easy as 1 2 3 to get a replacement and some extras...

they are replacing it for free!@ what great service and way to back their product! Im pretty sure it was just one of those things, and the seller has been a stand up guy offering to make it right, which likely wont take much since North sylva is on the ball here.
