Hi thanks for reading this thread first of all! :)

Here's my problem today I was sent a letter regarding my PAL and I was told to call the RCMP, so I did. I called in and I was asked for the reason to why I want a PAL, I said I wanted to be a gun collector, in which return he said it was "stupid" and it's not a reason. So then basically I was forced to pick another reason from a list he gave me, and one of them was going to the shooting range, so I picked that one. I have no intention of going to a shooting range, hunting or the other options he gave me. So then he asked me the procedure to bring a gun to a shooting range (keep in mind that I took this test over a year ago, and I'm a university student in the middle of finals, so so I forgot a lot of the details) I said you would need documents to show that your only going to the range and stuff and keep the ammo and gun separately. At the end he basically said I don't really want to give you the PAL because of you're lack of knowledge(even though I answered his question but I couldn't answer in exact details because I haven't even thought about this subject for a year) and your "stupid" reason.

So my question to you guys is, was I wrong to say that my reason for wanting a PAL was to be a gun collector? And what should I do in this case.

did you apply for a PAL (non-restricted) or an RPAL (restricted) ? Also, in which province do you live [not be a bigot, but it sounds like to dealt with Quebec's CFO] ?

Your reasons for wanting a PAL are legit, if its a restricted PAL you may want to do some research on the limitations and criteria for owning collectable guns and storing them but if its a long gun pal phone the cop back and tell him you want to speak to his boss as that by your explanation was direct intimidation and who the heck do they think they are you need to stand up for yourself and know your rights
