Remington must have realized their tried and true design was lacking for the all the hypothetical dangerous game hunters on the internet. Like I said, it’s no model 70, but it’s closer to a remington I could like!

It actually functions no differently than the previous 7 million model 700's.

If it works , it works.

Are they available with the bankruptcy thing...?

They seem to have abandoned the three rings of steel. Actually, the three rings of steel turned out to not be of any benefit. See, Remington was trying to protect their customers from accidents where they fired an overloaded cartridge or the wrong cartridge. It just never occurred to them that the real danger was that their customers would shoot each other.

Fully agreed on that. There be many boobs out there that keep pushing the velocity envelope for no good reason. Fookin' marketing crap.

Well the 3 rings of steel and the original extractor system did make it the safest, strongest 2 lug action ever made... No other 2 lug action ever sealed up as well... but catastrophic case failures are quite rare occurrences. It's still my choice of action when it comes to hand loading.

I think that the double plunger in the bolt face is an answer to a question no one asked. Would I pay extra to have it? Probably not. Never the less, the rifle as a whole seems to be a well thought out package that will provide the big game hunter with years of reliable service. It will be interesting to see if Remington custom shop rifles continue to be available going forward.

Ahh to go back to the days before inexpensive chronogrqaphs, when everyone just believed the ballistic tables. It just didn't matter that your .300 magnum only produced the velocity of a long barrel .308; it was a .300 magnum!

That was a cool range set up. I wouldn't mind adding some of those movers to my range, I will have to research that.

The rifle would be better in a 375 Ruger, of course.

I put one of those 375 H&H Mcmillan Remington 700's together but it only held 3 down and had only one ejector. Not suprisingly it worked well in Africa. I didn't care for it much at the range.

I have the same stock on a 9.3x62 and it is quite spicy for sure. Too much drop and very thin.

Most McMillans have a bit too much drop imo. That's the Rem Classic. The Brown Pound'R is perfect for cheek weld with a scope but doesn't come with checkering. Its amazing that Mcmillan hasn't clued in on that.

Agreed on the mcmillans and the brown pounder.

If wildcat did a brown pounder knockoff with checkering I’d order 6 tomorrow
