I was in Grouse River today picking up some talleys for my sons build when Damn if this didn't follow me home.
T3 SS Varmint in 223 1-8 twist.I already have a new PST 6-24x50 for it.Im not a reloader so any tips on the best factory loads for between 300-500yds.
Also I see a chassis in my future as the plastic stock seems thin and flimsy.

I am having good luck with the Hornady match 75 HPBT loads in my Daniel Defense, and the 1-8" twist on your Tikka should handle that bullet weight well. I find the factory synthetic stocks from Tikka about the best of the tupperware like stocks, no they are not a chassis or a McMillan, but I think they are better than the Remington offerings. Drop in a steel recoil lug from Lumley Arms and you are good to go.

First of all; Where are you that your lawn is in full on green mode?

Secondly,
Nice Tikka. I just became a Tikka owner this week too. Yours should shoot just about everything offered in commercial loads with great accuracy. The barrel twist rate is good for up to about 75 gr. bullets. The Viper will do well too. A 20 MOA rail will allow precision out past about 700-900 yds.
The chassis is a nice idea. The MDT TAC21 is a decent choice but there are lots of decent choices out there.

Yah lawn is very green and happy, 3rd mow already. I'm in Kelowna, we've been having a run of beautiful weather.

Nice rifle... Ya, I know the feeling. Stopped in at my local gun store to buy ammo, left with a 14" Mossberg M590A1 lol, jumped on the Hwy 401 to visit Giovanni's gun shop to pick up my Glock 17 that just got approved.

Drove home with 2 new toys and a large bag full of ammo :) ....was a gorgeous sunny summer afternoon.

I love memories like that. Brings a smile to my face. Still own the 14" Mossberg.

That grass!!!

69 grain nosler custom competition is a good factory round, used it as somewhat of a benchmark for my reloaded round. For reloading I use a 69gr SMK with 23.5gr Varget and cci no. 400 primers COL is magazine length.
