As some of may know,the shop I work out of does all kinds of gun related stuff from minor fixes to complete builds and rebuilds(ie: the MG 08's)
99% of this stuff is done by Grens Vegter.His machining and gunsmithing skills are second to none.
So with that said we unveil it.
It has been dubbed "The Frankengun".All I'm going to say before handing this over to the man himself is it use to be a Garand.Everything you see,other than the magpul butt and the action were 100% made by GV.Enjoy and let the questions begin.:)

Looks good Ryan. But why not start witha Norinco, instead of a Garand? Cheaper, and already has a mag.
 
So, when can we expect him to offer this stock to the general public? Would seem as though there'd be demand for a home grown alternative to the Sage stocks.

Hi Guys

I started with a garand because it was a bubba'ed garand, so what to do with a bubba'ed garand but turn it into something useful .Now I wont say it is track driver yet ,range report to follow on monday. I have been thinking of making the stock for a m14 but my other m14 project needs to be finished first(work related)

Other reasons too.A norico m14 has to have mags that hold how many rounds?Right.Pinned to five.This one is built with 10 rounders that are made specifically for a bolt action.Actually those new enfield knockoffs.Therefore now he has a precision rifle with 10 round mags.
Not only that but he seems to like a challenge.Someone came into the shop and said "that will never work".Well guess what? :)
 
Great rifle... you can't really grasp how much work has gone into it from the pics. Also being a long action it wouldn't be to much of stretch (pun) to do the same thing in a long action round.
 
Normally, I would say, damn, not a Garand, but seeing it was already bubba'd, I'll now say, damn, that is one awesome looking rifle! :D
I particularly like the stock. I think it would be an awesome chassis for the M14s.
Is it fibreglass or some other material?
Have you considered producing and marketing these stocks?
Definitely, would be a welcome alternative to the Sage EBR and JAE stocks.
 
The stock is machined out of solid aluminum billet and took quite a few hours.The butt is a magpul.
This was just fun project for GV.I don't think it would be econmical to produce UNLESS someone on here has access to a CNC mill.
We are also currently working on an M14 that has a 14 inch barrel.Its overall length will be the same or perhaps a little less than a M4.Wait out on that one.;)
