And whats the problem with that?? If my truck was in accident id sure as hell prefer a new one over repair job.
Queue the ....."shoulda bought a Nightforce " 3...2..1...
Very late reply but here it is.
If you can spend $1500 on an optic and it's cheaper for the company to replace it rather than repair it, then tell me what it's really worth?? If a single drop off the bench kills the optic, tell me how well built it really is??
I think the number of pro shooters in the PRS series using Vortex and winning speaks for themselves vs what you and some unknown class mates did on a mickey mouse course or some Trex guy did.
I don't own a single Vortex product but reading these posts the same characters come out and parrot the nonsense where it isn't even relevant to the topic posted.
You mean the pro shooters who are sponsored by Vortex and get their glass for free???
Well, having owned a few Vortex scopes AND having had to deal with warranty issues with one of them..the experience was exceptional. They do go above and beyond, so I have every confidence they'll take care of you. Can't speculate on repair/replace as I didn't see the damage...but either way, I think you'll be pleased with the outcome. If anything "good" came from this experience, I bet your son will be 10X more careful with your gear going forward. lol Hey...accidents happen..right?
Not all of us can afford top-tier S&B/Nightforce-level optics, myself included. I ran a Viper HS on my .223 for years, and it reliably helped me send countless varmints to the great hay field in the sky. Never had a single issue and for what I got for it when it was sold~I HONESTLY should have kept the thing. Very decent scope.
Actually yes we can all afford better glass like a Nightforce or S&B. It's about priorities and not wasting money on ten different guns with ten pieces of low end glass. If quality gear and quality performance are important than you'll find a way to finance it. I'm sure we would all love to have a couple dozen rifles all topped with the best glass going. The reality is we can't afford it. We can afford to have one or maybe two quality rifles with top end glass, if we prioritize our spending and get serious about it.
Take what you want from my comments, I’m not “parroting” anything, and my point directly relates to the topic..... warranty.
If I install a Heat Pump for an end user, and that end user then backs into it with their truck, how would I stay in business if I came back to fix it or replace it for free every time?
I would either have to install a lot of units and hope only a few take me up on the “warranty”, or I need to have a huge markup built in to protect myself as a business owner.
I’m sure Vortex makes some quality products, I’m not really trying to bring that into question. I just can’t get my head around a “no fault” warranty. Sure It’s a great deal for the consumer and accidents do happen (like the OP’s case). A company looking after it used to be viewed as good customer service. However, now marketing it as such is just further enabling idiocracy.
Ran over your scope?.... HA HA, here’s a new one!
Crushed you tube with rings?...... Oki Doki, here’s a new scope!
Used your Bino’s as a hammer?....... Neato, new ones are in the mail!
But whatever........ guess I’m just a grump
Sorry OP, I’ll leave this alone now. I’m sure Vortex will look after you.
GMC403 has figured it out. Vortex like Bushnell sell a great warranty. Their products are junk but their warranty is gold. It's easier to convince someone to part with $400, $500, $1500 dollars when you toss in the magic words "lifetime warranty". After that no one stops to question whether or not you're actually getting $400, $500, $1500 worth of product, because who cares! It comes with a lifetime warranty. Doesn't matter if it fails, warranty!
Last update unless the discussion continues.
March 20 - new scope arrived, fresh in the box. Same model as the model damaged. Couldn't be happier, and the turnaround time was awesome - all it cost was $20 to ship the damaged scope in.
Item dropped in the post on Feb 24 (pick up on Feb 25) - replacement arrived exactly 25 days later. Under the 4-6 week promised time too. WTG Vortex Canada!
No offense to the OP but I believe I predicted replacement over repair... Again, on a $1500 optic?? I guess they pay their techs a lot of money to justify replacing the optic over repairing it...
