I wonder what these saw teeth were used for.

Case are marked DM 42 = Deutsche Waffen-u. Munitionsfabriken A.-G., , Früher Lorenz , Karlsruhe, Germany
1942 production 7.9x57. Note that they are boxer primed
 
I have made case exactly like that for cutting the tops off shotgun shells and leaving a roll crimp in place as well as cutting over powder/over shot cards

This, or he was using the cases in something else and cutting a wad when he seated a bullet or something. The walls are pretty straight like it's been fireformed, and the bell on the left two looks like a lead bullet got seated in it.

I doubt it was for just cutting cards/wads, only because the flash hole is very small to push them back out through.

I've seen similar home made devices used to clean revolver cylinders. Specially important if shooting 38SPL in a 357Mag chamber or 44SPL in a 44Mag chamber. Don't know of any 0.443"dia revolver ammunition, though.
 
Bingo.
Found a few days ago from the person who gave him the idea, that it was used for cleaning the lead out from chambers near the case mouth.
