Ithaca 37 loading trick.

You can also keep it shouldered and just push the lifter out of the way with a shell and then slide that shell forward.

That takes care of the common complaint that "you can't port load teh Model 37!"

Alot of us Ithaca Nuts are aware of this little loading trick friend.
Just this evening I used my 20 gauge M37 to put an unlucky bunny into a death sprial.
And yes, older Ithacas can slamfire but this is uber hard on the firing pin.

Welcome to the club!

Well heck I didn't know you could do that at all. I'm going to have to have to pull mine out and try it. Like I need another excuse to enjoy shooting it.

An easier way...with the gun belly side up and action open, just place the shell on the carrier and move the slide forward. The carrier drops and so does the shell, the bolt pushes it into the chamber. The same can be done with the Browning BPS.

ya i've been doing that on my BPS for as long as ive had it. also a good way to to change out the shell in the chamber for something different just slide it back till the chambered one pops out but before the on in the mag gets released then load the shell you want and close the slide. Had to do that this year when a deer came out to far for buck shot
