ithaca 37 stocks

Anyone know the difference between a field stock and the featherweight stock. Boyds stocks has 37 field in laminate but says it needs modifying for the featherweight just wondering if that's a big deal of work

I'm pretty sure most 37s sold were considered "featherweight"...maybe they meant to say "featherlight"??? Did you call them to inquire?

Reciever height differs by 1/16" and the forarm differs by 1/4" in length and 1/8" in mag tube width.

Geeh, I thought the difference lays in the hardware (stock bolt) along with the stock. Back in the day, IIRC, the 3" magnum receiver accepted a different length of stock bolt versus the 2 3/4" only receiver. One would require a different depth of hole to accept the proper hardware.

My featherweight has the stated 5 1/4" bolt
I've never worked on laminates. Can that 1/16" be sanded off without issue?

laminate is pretty easy to work with as long as u take u r time--there should b no problem but again take u r time--if u use a chisel on laminate make sure they r sharp
