Ithaca 51 Value

The 51 was a good gun, and like many models and makes, they have gone south in price due to non choke tubes, and 3" chambers. It will drop ducks like any other, but price for today is $350 in excellent condition (and that also means without the butt stock cut short). Even at that price it will take time to sell. $250 should move it faster, but I'm just say'n, and don't mean to insult you.

The Ithaca Model 51 takes second place to the Winchester Super-X Model 1 as best gas operated semi-auto shotgun! The problem with the 51 was the way the bolt carrier was machined, it left it weak and prone to breaking. The carriers, as well as certain other parts, are pretty much un-obtainium today and that is one of the main reasons their value is so low. Most guys who buy the 51 do so to have a "parts" gun to keep theirs running...PM sent! :)

Hi,
Any idea what value or what you'd ask for on EE. a model 51 featherlight 12ga, 2 3/4". 30" full VR Barrel. wood and bluing in very good to excellent condition

Thanks

You just have to find the right guy with one and $300 will be no problem since as vlt79 says they were a fine gun but like a 1100 you best have another for parts if you are going to shoot it a lot. Me if I could not get 300 I would not sell it.
