Ithaca 87

I was in a gun shop yesterday and noticed a nice Model 87 Ithaca. I wasn’t smart enough to realize it was actually a 37. I may have to go back and have a better look.

The shotgun looked to be in very good condition. What’s a ball park value for such an item?

$300-500 are what I'm seeing them for.

Great shotguns, I learned to hunt with one years ago. I agree with Suther as far as price goes, usually around the 4 or 5 hundred dollar mark. The FUGLY select a choke versions generally go for a little less. Probably my favorite sporting pump gun.

The important question you need to ask the shop is, "can you slam fire it?" Well, maybe it's not that important, but it's a fun feature to have.

Yes it’s same as the 37, when the company changed hands a ways back the name was changed to 87 for a short time

Ok. Thanks for the good input. I had a really nice 37R and sold it to a friend. Always looked for a nice one to the pile.

The 87 will not slam fire and it never had a choke system and it is 3” fire a 3” out of it and you will only do that once

It was a nice gun, but on consignment and the dealer wouldn’t budge off $595 cash. I decided I didn’t need it that badly.
