Ithaca forends - are there differences?

More

Tell me more.

I just got one Thursday (a '69) that had a beavertail and I actually wish I had a ringtail.

Where can I find one?

Hey, MD.

I bought a plastic Speedfeed set from Ebay. The seller mentioned that it was compatible with all Model 37's.

Turns out he's full of poop. In 1978, the configuration of the slide changed to accomodate the new 3" chambering. The forend wood is a good 2" longer, but the overall length of the whole assembly, from the front of the nut that holds the forend on to the end of the tail of the action bar shortened up by half an inch. This direct from Mr. Nick Stump of IthacaGun.

The post-78 forends are not compatible with pre-78 guns, nor v.v.

I am currently embroiled in a peeing match with the vendor. Rather than eat the $20.00 shipping he's unwilling to pay, as well as the $15.00 I'll have to shell out to return the damn thing, I'd just as soon sell it here. You know anyone interested in a plastic stock set for a post-78 gun?

And BTW, does your '69 have the nuts front and back on the pump handle? And how long is the handle? You have me curious now.:)

More Ithaca notes:

Nick Stump tells me that he has three sets of the laminated stocks sitting on his shelves that have made it as far as the border, then been turned around by Canadian customs. He's having a hell of a time getting anything across the medicine line.

Anyone know a source for aftermarket Ithaca stocks in Canada?

Dan

Hi Dan,

I bought it and took it home, worked the pump a few times and put it away.

I'll have to have a look for the nuts.
