Ithaca lsa 65

I currently have 2 Tikka M65s, the same rifle as the Ithaca.
They are very well made, beautifully smooth actions and the wood to metal fit is very nice.
Having had several of both the M65 and the M55 I would have to say the workmanship and quality is superb if not second to none for a sporting rifle of that point in time.

Dad has one in .270. Nice gun, accurrate, good trigger. The mag lips have spread over the years and now will only feed reliably with 3 or less in the mag. Otherwise it runs over the shell and jams. The mag lips are too strong for us to adjust without worry of breaking something. Rings are another issue. Most 3-9x scopes wont work without a set of extension rings on weaver bases (#11 I believe). Another option is doing what I did, taking a set of CZ527 16mm dovetail rings and grinding the locating lug off. That solved the mounting issues.

I did buy one ( a 300 WM ) with Weaver extension rings, but nearly all had factory Tikka rings. One rifle an M65 Battue in 6.5x55 came with Tikka QD rings and they are one of the very few QD sets of any make I've had that retain perfect zero after being re-attached.
I can understand the need to use an extension ring on these rifles especially if the scope doesn't have a great amount of eye relief.
I have no problem because the length of my neck is similar to that of a goose..... :)

The one that`s coming in has a old bushnell scope with see through mounts, not sure why because the rear sight is gone. Blueing looks good but the stock has a lot of cracks in the butt area. No plumber jokes please.:D

My friend has one that he bought new and put less than 1 box through. It has been in storage ever since. He still has 2 boxes of blue/yellow Dominion ammo for it (.30-06).

The one I have is a heavy barrel in 222,love the way the trigger adjusts and is the 55 model. Is that the difference between 65 and 55 is short and long action? FS

Yep, 55 is short action and 65 is long action. Oddly enough, Tikka also made 308 Wins in both m55 and m65 models --- not sure the reason for this.

I have a 30-06 Tikka M65 Deluxe and, as others have mentioned, it's a very well made and nice fitting rifle. Mine came with Tikka quick-release scope rings that work great in the dovetailed receiver.

One curiousity is that some of the 30cal bores (and possibly other cals) have ratchet-style rifling, rather than the typical symmetric lands/grooves. Here's a picture of my bore:

Still have,or did it move on? Question to post# 10

Long gone, I bought in when I was 14, and I lived where the only big game was whitetail deer. When I went North to work, I traded it for a 7mmremmag, so I would have a cartridge more suitable for hunting moose.

I have an Ithaca LSA-65 in 30-06..Shoots well with a variety of bullets..The last load I played with for this particular rifle was a 165 gr scirocco on top of 47gr of IMR 4895, producing some nice ragged hole groups.

Excellent rifle, all metal and walnut, and accurate as hell! TIKKA did an excellent job on the magazine fed rifle, built as good if not better than a Sako of the same vintage! Guys seem to shy away from them in sporter form as they weigh alot more than new rifles from most makers, but they seem to not last long for sale when in great condition! Dale Z!
