I'm new to this particular model of shotgun and have recently come into acquisition of one (no, I didn't pinch it out of the evidence locker  )

I don't want to prune the original barrel but I was wondering if swapping barrels is as easy as getting another barrel and screwing it in.

Thanks

They usually need some fitting... there were two different thread dimensions as well.

If you need anything at all for that shotty this is your man... he has all the old stock from the various Ithaca Factories that went south

If the serial number is on the barrel, barrels are not interchangable.

If the serial number is on the receiver, barrels are usually interchangable. They started numbering receivers around 855,000 I think.

Hey,I love these shotguns . O.K. guns with serial numbers above 855,000 will accept 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch cambered barrels interchangeably. Interchangeable barrels became available in 1957.

I've been looking for a shorter barrel too. you may have to get a long one and cut it down . find a 2nd barrel first, before you do anything.

The barrels will take the 3" but the reciever won't.

Once you shoot and try to eject the shell is to big to fit out the bottom.

Yes it's a pain to get out.

I do have an extra ribbed barrel with 3 choke tubes though if some one is interested. However it has a custom paint job and your mag tube must hold 7  to fit the lug.

I have a 30 inch plain barrel for the newer model 37's altered for steel shot use (Skeet II Choke and forcing cone to 3 inch) that is just like new. $150 = shipping $10). If anyone is interested email or send a PM.

Mine is a plain barrel. I was thinking about trying to find another barrel, btu I could also just bite the bullet and pimp out an HP-9.

Decisions, decisions.
