My early 70's 12ga M37 Featherlight has a magazine cup that frequently binds at the mouth of the magazine tube after the last shell is ejected. The follower cup is steel and magazine tube is smooth and clean, no crud or rust.

Nevertheless I cleaned the mag tube and used some steel wool on the rim of the follower cup to smooth the somewhat sharp edge.

However, the follower cup is still getting stuck at the mouth of the mag tube.

Any suggestions?

Try to determine what diameter of the "cup" is sticking in the end of the tube... if it's the smaller part of the 'cup' polish it slightly... if it's the larger diameter of the cup, polish it very little, it may be too small now and is almost not stopping where it should. Just guessing here ???

I believe it is likely the last thing you said. Appears that the "shoulder" of the follower is getting wedged inside the "step" that is machined into the wall of the mag tube.

OP,
Check/inspect to see if the follower pushed a burr into the receiver/mag tube end/stop also.
&
Replace the follower or spin up a new one from aluminum in the lathe.

Mag follower is coming out too far, or the fingers on the pickup have been pinched together, also make sure the the two screws that hold the shell elevator are in there holes, I have done it a couple of times. Where one screw is in the hole on one side and not the other.
Also did you take the mag tube off? Maybe thread too far in...
Cheers
Brian
