Wondering if anyone has recommendations for a Ithaca SKB gunsmith? My SKB 100 sxs doesn't seem to want to fire the left barrel. I'm wondering if a buddy dry fired it and screwed up the inertia trigger?

Not enough info.. Does it not fire using live ammo? Are you just trying it at home and not activating the inertia mech.? They have a fairly good inertia mech. you may not be slapping the butt hard enough, all the best, Art.

Made it home and found the 12g snapcaps. The left barrel's firing pin makes half as much noise as the right barrel's. I can fire the right barrel, smack the butt on the ground, try to fire the left barrel and it just makes a pitiful little click. If I try to fire left barrel first it seems to not want to fire at all and when I smack the butt on the ground to reset the trigger it doesn't seem to want to fire the right barrel either. I'm not sure if that's because the left barrel didn't fire? or something else. The only thing consistant is the right barrel firing when it is selected first.

If your lucky the internals are gunked up and a good cleaning will fix it although taking off the rear stock requires a very thin flat bladed screw driver in order to not bugger the screws. It could also be a broken firing pin or spring on the left barrel. You probably need to take it too a gunsmith to have it looked at but make sure he has the right tools and experience to do the job.

Ron Sharp was Ithaca's gunsmith and when they went out of business he bought all their parts.

Unfortunately he isn't doing any work right now due to illness I believe. I have a 20g 500 that fires when you close the action. Changes barrels when you move the selector. Something major is messed inside there.
