The barrel needs to come off as well. I have a 900, not the XL, so mine is a little different. I found this:

I believe there was two styles of bolt handle, not sure how one comes out, but the other just pull out. If I remember correctly, and I'm likely not, I think one had a set screw. Helped a buddy with one a few years ago. The handles are known to fall out often, I ordered him a new one, that's when I learned there were two types.

yess i have remove the barrel and all this and im not able to remove the bolt handle and i have try all what they say on the shotgunworld forum and it dont work

Sold my XL900's but if I remember correctly the bolt had to be back a bit to disengage it.
Try that and if it doesn't work, I would suggest putting the trigger assembly back in and then try pulling on the operating handle as it moves slightly back.

Canso is correct...somewhat. After removing the forearm and barrel, you need to hold the slide arm assembly back a little with one hand and move the bolt forward a little with the other till the round cutout lines up with the charging handle. It will pull straight out once it's all lined up.
