I have a 1971 Ithaca skb sxs and I want to know if it would be alright to shoot steel shot though it?

I had a 20 gauge skb 100 and never put steel through it as the manufacturer recommends not to use steel with their older guns. ht tp://www.skbshotguns.com/faq.php#q10

Depends on what the barrels are choked and the size pellets you are trying to shoot through it. Tight chokes and large pellets would be a no. Small pellets and open chokes are fine.
