Ithica lever (youth)

there's been a couple of them - the m49 and the m76 - the 49 has the square receiver, the 76 is basically a round- i had a 49 and it was nothing but problems, then rails would bind if the screws were done up too tight, and the receiver was aluminum- poj if ever there was one- the 76 was made in germany by erma- - the 49 was only around for 4 years before ithica took them off the market due to quality control problems

sounds like you may have had a 49R. they were apparently very unreliable. i've heard the 49 saddlegun single shot was actually not bad. i just received one from a trade and have yet to fire it. it looks beat up but cycles just fine.

no, i KNOW the difference- pos is still a pos- i got a nylon 66 and GAVE THE 49 AWAY-

The receiver on the 49 I had for a very short time was cast from pot metal. The extractor was broken as well. It took about $45.00 worth of parts from Numrich to get it functional.
It shot very well - less than 1" at 25 yards with open sights. I gave the gun away.
It had "Ranger" stamped on the top.
The Ithaca model 72 lever gun came out of the same factory and is incredible value for a levergun. I have shot thousands of rounds out of one with no jams or misfeeds - with almost every brand of inexpensive ammo. Groups with a scope run about 1" at 25 yards.
