Ithica model 100

Wondering if anyone has any experience with the Ithica model 100 in 20 gauge 25 or 28 inch barrel as an upland game gun? Good bad or otherwise I would love to hear what you think. Cheers!
 
I own an I-T-H-A-C-A M100 in 20ga with 25" IC/M bbls. I bought it to replace a M200 that I foolishly traded away. I like the 100s better for the narrow forend as opposed to the beavertail on the 200 and that it has extractors instead of ejectors. These guns are perfect for upland, but the only thing I don't like is that it lacks double triggers. I will never sell this gun.

I have the same gun you are looking at with 28" barrels.
It is light, very well balanced, stock fits me - points quick, nice bright front bead, slim to carry in one hand, 3" chambers.

Buy it quick, you will not be disappointed. Pay whatever the man wants.
 
So basically the general opinion is a good gun for upland has anyone had anything go wrong? I've heard of possible stock cracking near the scalloping on the receiver has anyone experienced this?

Yes, you will sometimes see a short (1cm or less) hairline crack at a point along the scalloped receiver. I've never seen one of these cracks travel farther. There are 2 kinds of preventive medicine:
1) once a year remove the butt plate and with a long screwdriver check that the through-stock bolt is snug;
2) have the head of the stock glass bedded (its not expensive).
Ideally do both of these.

You could pay 3X more for a SxS or U/O and not have the quality of a Model 100.

Well thanks guys I pulled the trigger on it. It's a Ithaca model 100 20 gauge with 25 inch barrels. I was looking at new CZ's and I came across this, I think this is going to be a much more robust gun (and better looking in my opinion). I can't wait to get it out for some grouse this fall!
 
I have several SKB /Ithaca o/u and sxs.
All the sxs have the scallop split and I have had them glass bed repaired.
There are some things the Japanese did very well.
SKB / Ithaca is one of them.
I wish I had more of them.
They all shoot well, and prices are escalating.
 
The glass bed on the front of the stock to prevent the crack from forming is this something you can do your self or do you recommend taking it into a good gun smith? Is there much stock material that requires removal?
 
I have always taken mine to a smith.
I am not confident enough in my ability to do it myself. Just not my thing.
AFAIK there was no wood removed. The repair is invisible.
