Got an old ithica sxs with outside hammers. Made in 1900. It needs a new hammer spring. below is a pic of the broken spring. Does anyone know where I could find one or who I could get to make one?

I suspect your best bet would be to make your own. I've had to resort to this option on many occasions. Usually I end up searching through parts bins at gun shows, or scrounging something up from a gunsmith's miscellaneous parts bins. The approach that has worked best for me has been to buy a similar part that can be modified to fit.

With only your photo to go on, it's impossible to know if a part might potentially be a good start. But, if you take the actual pieces of the broken spring with you to the gun shows/gunsmiths, you can probably find something that will work (or an actual replacement part). Welding the existing pieces back together could be a frustrating exercise as welding springs is a difficult task at the best of times and the steel will have to be re-tempered. On the other hand, starting from a repurposed spring avoids those potential issues. I would recommend using only hand files if you build your own spring in this manner - using power tools is possible, but be extra careful not to burn the metal at any point (same issue with compromising the temper).

Again, it's impossible to guess the dimensions of your spring from just a photo, but here's an example of a spring that's for sale in your area that might be an example of one that could be adapted:

In 2012 , I bought a Mainspring Kit (of 8 Flat springs) from Brownells for $ 90. US list . Part # 754-900-000 .
I used it to replace a broken Mainspring in a British Made S x S shotgun . With some light modification I found 1
that worked. Now I have 7 more in stock for next job .

You could try to contact Gunhog on the forum. He was manufacturing custom flat springs for situations like this.
