Ithica XL900

Prolly a stupid Q guys but what is the H/L switch underneath the front stock mean?
Not familiar w/ Ithica's at all!
Any info for would be appreciated.

I had an XL 900 I bought new in 1977. I'm not familiar with what switch you are referring to. Mine didn't have one. In fact, it was supposed to be a self compensating gas system.

There's a silver/stainless colored H/L selector switch underneath front stock on the mag tube I think.

H is for heavy loads.
L is for light loads.

If the cartridges will function with the "H" setting, then use that setting.
