Whenever the ducks are around, it's not hunting season or I don't have my gun.

I often get ducks landing in my pool in the fall as they make their way south. I snuck up on one in my pool this morning. He didn't have a care in the world, swimming about casually as if he owned the pool.
I did have trouble identifying the breed, however. Guesses, anyone?

I got a bit closer and snapped this one, then he started to get nervous

I could taste him as I watched, on a bed of rice with a wonderful sauce a l'orange.

That looks like a fine specimen of Indochinese Mold-Injected Rubberduck to me... but that's just a guess... A rare find indeed...

if my memory serves me right, I think the scientific name for it is the Anatidae Dendromoldinjecticae Offshoremanufacturae...

Update;

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT ever attempt to ingest the above-mentioned waterfowl should you catch one during a hunt. I've had an upset stomach for the last two days since "the meal"

I would think that it is a Chinese Bath Duck, by its markings.

I believe that's one of a very rare breed - Bertus ernicus, little seen outside the Sesame Street region. It is, in fact, rumored to be "the one who makes bath time so much fun."
