Yep...it's official...I'm an idiot!!!!! Decided to finally clean the bolt on my savage trophy hunter xp .223..managed to lose the ball bearing hiding under the extractor law....been on my knees for an hour searching the hardwood...I'm sure that's the last I see of it....anyhow..anyone know where I might score another....tis my fave rifle....lol

Very quick easy phone call to Savage parts in the states, bet you have it in a week two tops, have your serial # ready when you call.

Sometimes you can get away with using a piece of steel shot from a shotgun shell as long as the shot size is the same or as close to the same as the missing miniball. I know of a fellow who did this about five years ago and the bolt is still working.

Yes .. happened to me several times. Problem is by the time it shows up --- I cant remember where it came from - or why I am so excited. I have a few tiny ball bearings and small black screws sitting in a little jar in the hope that I'll have an epiphany one day .. if I havent already thrown the originating "device" out.

BTW - If Milts wife wont go over -- I think there is a Saint you can pray to.... never sure which one - but I am pretty sure it isnt Saint "Diabolical Bastard" - which I have invoked several times with no success.

I feel better now. Kinda good to know I'm not the only one doing idiot things when it comes to those itty bitty parts.
 
Awesome replays guys....many thanks eh....I will try local, if not I'll pm that very kind offer....funny, I just like to know how my firearms are put together, shot maybe 100 rounds through it, flawlessly I might add, just reckoned it was time to clean.....lol ..well now I know, and it isn't the first time something incredibly small shot out, but I'm getting btter at it...
