I've come to a realization.
i need to have front serrations on all my pistols being a left handed shooter.

i find it insanely uncomfortable to reach across with my right hand and rack the slide from the back.
i cant see into the gun to make sure its empty or loaded or if something ejected out or or or or......

but press checking under the front on front serrations is just right.

any other left handed shooters in the same boat?
or has someone got a better way to do this and still be able to see in the gun?

ive been playing with my G19 and i dont know if its because its smaller or what but i really notice it with this gun.

i need to become friends with the guys at Black Box and send them all my guns to have front serrations added, wonder if i could get a bulk deal?

I have arthritis and my pistols have ladder grip tape that I put on the be able
to rack the slide.
Inexpensive, self adhesive and can be taken off. Easy fix.

Righty shooter turned lefty here.

Are you sling shotting or power stroking the slide to rack it with your right hand? Like, are you pinching the slide with your thumb and pointer finger, or turning your thumb toward your body and grabbing it with your palm and fingertips? I avoid sling shotting because you have to awkwardly cant the gun to the side to get at it.

If you have tall sights like trijicons, you can easily hook the side of your index finger on the rear sight, and use your thumb near the top of the backstrap or beavertail of the frame to pull the slide back a bit to check the chamber, then give it a tap with the back of your fist to make sure it's into battery properly.

If you want to press check on the front of the slide, grip tape is a cheaper alternative than slide serrations, albeit not nearly as nice. I find the best way to do that is to get the chamber at about eye level, gun pointed up, slight outboard cant, and press check from there.

I use my right hand to hold and just cross over to my left eye. I'm right handed but left eye dominant.

HA

grip tape.... never thought of that!
i have a sheet of that stuff just collecting dust in my shop!!!

I was going to suggest that as well, because it's cheap, effective, and reversible.

I used some on my M305 because I hated the slick feel of the factory stock, and I put a few small bits on my 8.5" Grizzly as well.
