I've got a problem with scopes??

I have zeiss taste with a tasco budget!
I have been looking for a great quality scope for $300 and under. I have several Bushnells (4200,3200, trophy, banner)and on my muzzle loader I have a Nikon prostaff. But I am now looking for a scope for my new to me tikka 338 fed. I'm happy with the bushnell elites but wouldn't mind trying somthing different. The Vortex diamondback seems interesting to me and was wondering if this would be comparable to a 3200 or 4200? what other scopes in this price range seem like a great scope for the money? I am looking for a 2x7 or a 3x9 and eye relief is a bit of an issue. (I'm using the nikon right now for the tikka and I'm not sure if I would want less eye relief, I haven't got a kiss from the scope but my buddy watched me shoot and said its not too far from leaving it's mark.)

I have yet to see any scope that I consider "great quality" for $300 or under.For that price "good quality" is about the best that you can expect

I budget anywhere up to 150% of the cost of the rifle for a scope.

Look for a good used scope on the EE. Leupolds can be had for quite an attractive price used.

I would also look at the the Burris Fullfield II's used. Great scope for the $$
I suggest spending more money on a pair of binos vs. thousands on a rifle scope.

You can stretch your scope dollar a bit if you go with a leupold FX 11 fixed power instead of a variable. The fixed are quite a bit better optically than the coresponding variable, it's about like going down $100 in price and up a level in optical quality. Last winter you could still get them for $360, maybe you still can with a bit of looking.

Great advice. If You hunt for values, nothing beats used, straight power Burris, Redfield, Weaver, etc... scope, and best You can afford porro prism binocular.

Fixed powers are always a bargain and you won't be handicapped using one. I used a 4x Leupold for many years.
