Iver Johnson 1911s?

Anyone have any information on Iver Johnsons? Anyone own one?

Most of the reviews I've read are mostly positive, but I would like to hear from owners if possible.

Made by SAM, check all the reviews here on those. SAM is also sold in the US by American Tactical Imports if you want to review those. Wolverine Supplies carries lots of SAM 1911's. Dunno who sells IJ in CCanada.

So are they just modified SAMs, or is there a noticeable difference in quality?

The most noticeable differences are the standard ejection port and the flat MSH on the Iver Johnson, versus the lowered port and arched housing of the SAM.

And how do either compare to the Norinco?

Way better then Norks, but look at the models more closely.... Some have standard ports/arched msh as well. Basically there should be a SAM to meet your needs. They have old school GI, mid-school enhanced GI, and full modern with most of the bells/rails you could ask for. I have 2 so far and have been very impressed with both.
Quality of the steel/parts/fitting would be pretty much the same with IJ/SAM

From the ones I've seen they're pretty nice looking for the price. Last year I was in Miami and I saw a few at the gun shop I was at. The guy I talked to at the store said they haven't had any come back with problems but also said they're not flying off the shelves either.
I was even looking at getting one of the "Hawk's" from Lever arms. I emailed them to ask a couple of questions about the polished hawk model but 6 weeks or so later and still no reply. I ended up with a Commander SR1911 instead.
