Iver Johnson - Cut Down

I have a champion my great grand pa's nickel plated bought in 1910

if i did that to that gun my my father (whose alive) and my grandfather, uncle, and great grand father would come back from the grave and kick me in the balls

but nice gun anyway

" I am curious to see how it patterns before I chop mine. " Quote, Polar Man.

At 20m it spreads the cheep Federal/ Winchester skeet ammo to about a 4 foot circle. Can keep Win low-recoil slugs in about 6-8 inches at 35m, and #4 buck has proven deadly on yotes out past 35m. Not great, but it serves it's intended purpose well.
At point blank, it will kill anything that goes thump in the dark.

Thanks, doesn't sound too bad actually.

Did the exact same with a cooey 84 minus the cut down stock. Kicks like a sumbich and spreads out fast but like its been said it does what its meant for. I would like to get it threaded for chokes to make it a bit handier but that'll have to wait.

save up you sawed off barrels and make a set of windchims for your cabin with the ends  they work great and have a nice ring.

Artistic irony? Would just love to have a 7 -8 barrel set of chimes and have a visiting Wet Coast, home spun, 100% hemp fibre, sweater wearer ask about the beautiful melodic wind chime that have a beautiful Zen calming effect. Excellent suggestion! LOL!

This is my H&R I did awhile back.

Truck Bed Liner? Very cool.

I dont know if you decreased or increased the value! However i am thinking of doing that now...

If you can get past the Psychological Factor of CUTTING! a fire arm, I believe the end product is much more functional, interesting, and fun than the original. When you are doing this to cheap, plentiful, firearms that are not museum pieces, the mental "scars" and Post Traumatic Shock, are minimized.:)

It will be neat to have a gunsmith to machine thread for the screw in chokes. By the way no harm to saw down those Iver Johnson or winchester, just don't cut cooey anymore because there aren't any decent one left behind anymore.

i had a enfield someone coated with that stuff, as soon as it seen a drop of gun oil it turned into nasty tar. and theres tons of decent cooeys laying around trigun you just need to look harder is all.

I've got an old beater H&R Topper that I've been thinking of doing this to as well. I was thinking of drilling holes in the butt stock similar to a Savage 24c to store a couple of extra shells or maybe some small survival kit. I'd then cover it with a slip on recoil pad with a slip on shell holder over top to hide the ugliness of the recoil pad . As for sights, I think tru-glo had some adhesive backed turkey type sights that included a rear sight - just peel and stick if I recall correctly. Should be good for its' intended use as a truck/camp/slug gun.
