Just stumbled apon a 100rnd box of 1978 IVI 7.62 NATO ball ammo. Brass cased, dont know much about it.

How much is it worth per 100?
Boxer or berdan primed?
Any idea on weight without pulling a bullet or will it most likley 150gr

Anyone use this stuff before?

boxer primed, very good brass to reload. You need to remove the crimp in the primer pocket though. bullet weight can't recall, think it may be 147 but its in that 145-150 range.

as for price? too much nowadays! in today's market: 50 cents you did good. 75, meh, $1.00/round? I think people who pay that are crazy!

The originals were in boxes of 20 or bandoliers. Is it loose? IVI in 1978 wasn't outstanding as people think Canadian surplus ammo should be. It is machine gun fodder. Boxer primed. 147gr Ball, and some of it was getting undersized by that year of the production runs. The DCRA shooters were so p~ssed off at being issued crud with eccentric and small diameter bullets that .3065 cal barrels were common to squeeze things back to round.

I fired some '78 dated stuff this weekend through my LMT..it was turning in groups around 4moa at 100m from a bagged, prone position.
It's only saving grace is the brass is boxer primed and annealed, otherwise it is pretty much junk.

Speaking of that , i just recently found an unmarked .308 stripper clip in the spent casing bin at the rifle range 2 weekends ago , i was pretty shocked to say the least lol .

only 1 unfortunately .

I was getting about 2 to 3 inch groups out of my Remington 700 Police Sniper rifle @100 yards with 1978 IVI M80 Ball ammo. Some of it's not so bad. Like the others said, IVI is good for reloading once you SUPER SWAGE out the primer hole. Case capacity is slightly less then commercial .308 R&P brass. I would not pay more then $.50 a round for it.

"...by way of issue through the DCRA..." Stolen from the DCRA then. It's never been released for civilian sale. Mind you, the prison system used it long ago, too. They released some bullets. Bad bullets. Oval and inconsistent weights.
It used good brass, but mediocre accuracy.
"...Some of it's not so bad..." Two to 3 inches out of that rifle is lousy accuracy.
