IVI Brass/5.56

I remove the crimp by chucking a countersink in my drill press, run it at low speed and hold the case, primer pocket up, against the countersink for just a second or two. Quick and easy!

Maybe this belongs in another post, but I am curious about what these crimps look like. Perhaps someone could post some before and after pictures to help a beginner reloader like myself. Thanks.

I have about 10K of IVI brass that I used a Dillon Super Swage to remove the crimp and a Giuard case trimmer to trim them all. Doesn't actually take too long, just have to find the time to do it.

I love trimming brass with the Giuard, only problem is I never have enough of it now to do. I trimmed all my 5.56mm brass a year or so ago, and had a great time doing it!

Used the Super Swager, but sold it when I found out how quick and ridiculously simple it was for a RCBS VLD internal chamfer tool to remove that crimp.

One of these do-dads? Cna you chuck it in a drill press or hand drill?

After a 5 gallon bucket you will feel mental agony just by looking at that picture. :p

If you have access to more military brass the Dillon would be the way to go.

I have the RCBS thingy somewhere. If you want it send me a ping and I will work out something cheap.

I've seen those in action and they look painful...I'm hopefully looking for a motorized option.:p

Drill press running slow and a drill bit a smidgen larger than the primer pocket. Just bite enough to remove the crimp. I have done thousands like that. If you screw up one (or 12), who cares. You have a 5 gal bucket to fine tune your method.
