Thinking of using some IVI 308 brass for match shooting. Any body have any experience with it.?
Hows the consistency?
Hows the life for reloads?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Depending on what you want from your brass and ammo.
By 'match' I assume you want the best or nearly the best available for consistency, and you are likely running it in a particularly accurate bolt gun.

I would recommend Lapua brass. Realitively inexpensive in .308 and about the best out there that requires little prep.
IVI is decent brass but in my experience with it, requires too much prep. and will require too much culling to form a decent basis for match brass. For feeding in a semi auto in something like service rifle or 3-gun, IVI is perfectly suited.

I agree with you on the part of lapua, if I wanted the absolute best Id go straight to lapua.
But I was considering the IVI for compition use. Like a PRS type match where the round count is over 300, and a good chance of not getting all you brass back. I dont mind sorting and brass prep, I have more time than I do disposable income.

I used it in the past, fair bit of work, but worked well for me. As I recall really hot loads would extract fine, but I didn't use them for more than 3-4 reloads before I sold the Rifle so I can't speak to their long term durability.

Load it up and let er rip. I've used a bunch of it. Size, trim, debur and start weighing it before you swage the primer pockets. Then decide if the weights vary enough to bother sorting it.
I've fired the same cases 6 times or more.
It's not lapua brass. But it's not lapua prices either.

Weight sorting is not as accurate as volume sorting.
Get a ball powder and fill a case to the top, then tap the case with a screw driver or wrench to ensure the powder has filled all the voids, top it off till level. Then simply dump that powder into another case and tap till full. This will quickly reveal which case has extra boiler room or not as much. Repeat with all cases and toss the ones with biggest variance and you'll have very consistent brass.

IVI 7.62 cases are HARD, I've had split necks on the first reload... Anneal and prep the flash hole and you'll be rockin.... I turned the necks on 100pcs of 5.56 IVI and kept them for working loads in .223 bolt guns... It's surprisingly consistent

From what I have seen IVI is best suited to the military or surplus shooter with case a wide variance of case wights and case volumes even with in a small 500 round lot the work required far out weighs any potential gain .What beltfed said is right on the money it is like buying a Lada to race against a Ferrari yes you can do it a but at what expense ????
