IWI Masada Optic Ready question

Just wondering if anyone who owns a Masada Optic Ready has installed a Holosun 507 or 508 red dot on it. I have read that there is an issue with the supplied screws being too long and protruding too far into the slide causing malfunction issues. Apparently the screws are for the Trijicon red dot not a Holosun. Just wondering if there is any truth to this. I have emailed IWI in the States a week ago but have yet to hear from them.

Any and all information would be appreciated.

Good question, I installed and ran the 509t and unfortunately learned the "hard" way that the screws to mount the plate were indeed too long. If I were to do it again, I would remove the extractor and mount the optic checking the screw length to make sure it doesn't interfere with the extractor spring, in my case the screw was just a "hair" too long and put a dent in the spring, which failed after several rds. It was near impossible to get a replace spring, & since North Sylva didn't stock any and IWI USA wouldn't ship a $16 kit to Canada, I really had to get "creative" to get a spring. Anything else? just ask OK?

Just an FYI, I ran several hundred rds with the optic, the plastic plate did crack at the rear? I believe the 509 used the RMR plate and the 2 little extensions at the back? broke, however it didn't affect the optic once it was mounted and tightened down, only when I went to remove it.

Thanks for the info mildot. Did you replace the screws if so which ones did you use?

From what I have read they need to be 10mm in length BUT I could be wrong. I really like the Masada as it mimics the P320 modularity. I just want to ensure that there are screws available without causing any slide issues or damages the firearm.

I had a similar issue when I bought my Walther PDP. The screws that they sent with the RMR plate were too long as they were meant for the Trijicon not a Holosun . Luckily the fix was easy and simple, I just had to use the Holosun supplied screws to mount the optic to the plate.

I had at some point on mine a 507 and ordered custom screw size that i found on some redit post. 10 bucks for a 100 screw. At this price i got some, easy to screw up a tiny screw trying to shorten it. If i can find the bag ill snail mail some to you if you want.

I appreciate the offer. I will let you know. Happy New Year.

I received an email back from IWI USA and there were quite helpful.

"The Holosun 507 and 508 are not technically supported optics for the Masada, however because they share dimensions with the Trijicon RMR it can be mounted on the RMR plate but as you pointed out yes the screws will be too long. I have seen instances of customers cutting those screws down to fit and having no issues running a Holosun. I hope this information is useful and if you have any more questions please feel free to reach out."

I ended up purchasing an Optic Ready Masada with a Meprolight micro RDS system with quick detach mount from a fellow CGN'r. I really like the Masada but the Meprolight micro RDS system in very unique. I am heading to the range this week to try it out.

Apparently you can remove it and reattach without loosing zero. I have attached a video from the Meprolight website.
