From the press release ...

According to Uri Amit, IWI's CEO, "We are pleased to announce the launch of the operations of IWI US to shooting enthusiasts in the US. We have operated for many years in the global Defense and Law Enforcement markets, where we have invested significant resources in developing quality, innovative weapons that answer the needs of our customers, and our products enjoy great popularity around the world. All of the weapons we have developed have become the standard for the IDF as well as for the armed forces, Special Forces, and police forces throughout the world. We have now decided to enter the civilian market in the US and offer products that have been specially developed for the US commercial market. Initially, we will offer several configurations of the TAVOR® SAR and the UZI® PRO Pistol, which have undergone changes and adjustments to suit the needs of the American consumer."

Mr. Amit continued, "Over the years, rumors have circulated regarding the launch of our US operations, which has created expectations in the civilian market, and we look forward to an excellent reception of our products by US shooting enthusiasts. We will be introducing our new weapons at the upcoming SHOT Show - and invite you to visit our booth to take a closer look."

I thought the pasty faced bed wetters and the yellow striped cretins at the CFC put the Uzi on the prohib list...?

Yes, the Uzi is prohibited by name if O'm not mistaken, so clearly no chance of them happening in Canada anytime soon. The Tavor is the main point of this article, really.

I'd imagine it will take some time for IWI to tool that new factory up for full production, but I'd expect them to be pumping out guns in a year and a half or less (considering IWI already has the manufacturing process ironed out).

I doubt US will make longer barrel just for us.
Even if there is longer barrel, the US government will make it hard to export them....
Why do you say all of this? Do you realize how many of our guns come from the US with altered, "compliant" barrels?

The only firearm I know that comes with alerted barrel length is XCR.
Do you know what other other 'many guns' ?

Bushmaster wont change their barrel length.

Like I say, the US government will make it hell for us to get their guns, their export laws are always tough.

You would not believe the conversations the American's are having

at $1500, I'll own one.

at $1600, I'll own one a little later.

at $1700, I'll start socking pennies away, and maybe in a few months if I feel frisky.

at $1800, I've got other guns on the list that are cheaper.

Not surprising, actually. They can buy ARs for less than we can up here, without most of the restrictions we face. I would be hard pressed to buy a Tavor, XCR (bleh), RFB, SL8, and probably even Swiss if I could buy a quality non-restricted AR for half the price.

We say that because the US State Department have regularly violated us anally with sand based lubricant.

For all it's reputation as the worlds armoury, getting guns out of the US is sometimes harder than finding a virgin in Keswick.
