Izzy mauser and cleaning rod

Rummaging about and I rediscover the K98 rod I intended to put in my Israeli Mauser in the distant past but never did get around to doing that. Has anyone ever drilled the stock on a Israeli mauser and fitted it with the small plate to screw the rod end to ? Any insight on this is welcome.

Why? The Israeli Mausers did not have a cleaning rod.

^ Why?............ Because I want to, thats why. Actually its one of those goofy little projects to take on and see how to pull it off.

I've never tried this but think it would be not to bad. I'd buy a long drill bit and use the channel in the bayo lug as a guide. Drill to depth then add the notch for the nut.

my israel dou 43 had a cleaning rod when I got it was bent
