J.C Higgins Bolt Removal

Hi everyone

I bought a J.C Higgins Model 583.1101 shotgun off a guy the other day, and I have a question.

I can't remove the bolt!!! I've searched the forum, and searched the internet, and I can't find a answer to get the dang bolt out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your gun was made by High-Standard, but it's been awhile since I've handled one, try either of the following.

~ Hold the trigger to the rear and remove the bolt?
~ Remove the large screw on the left side of the receiver?

Tried holding the trigger to the rear. And there seems to be no bolt on the left side. Heres some pics of the receiver.
Also, im a bolt action Newb, so I don't know nuttin about them.

Yes. I even undid the screws and took the safety right off.

Figured it out. After much, much digging online, I found a PDF manual somebody post on a message board back in 2009. Yay!

Took the bolt out, gave her a good clean, cleaned the heck out of everything I could reach, and now shes all buttery smooth.

Now thinking about cutting the barrel down to a legal length, and use it as a bush/truck/ fun gun.

How about sharing your secret about the bolt removal method?

I removed the little pin with the RED arrow, which allowed me to pull the cartridge lifter PINK down and the bolt came right out.
