Good quality box lock with Greener cross bolt. Pre WW2 as it is marked made in Germany. After WW2 German gun makers in the gun making heartland of Germany were split up between East (communist) and West (non communist) . You will see barrel markings of Thalman, Suhl, JP Sauer and Sohns etc. All guns made in the same plants. All of the guns made were solid well made working guns. Some higher grade guns were made but mostly before WW2. Site sponsor Trade Ex has several variants for sale with prices ranging from around 300.00 to 800 plus. IIRC the famed Merkel shotgun is also part of this shotgun manufacturing merge/split with Simpson shotguns being an affordable gun with many Merkel features. I would value the one you asked about based on its condition at around 550.00. Nice gun and it will last a lifetime and then some. This is only my opinion so if a German shotgun expert shows up and tramples my opinion then all bets are off.
