J.R carbine or Kel Tec sub 2000 in 9mm?

I want a Sub 2k. There are really very different firearms. From what I have seen and heard the Sub 2k is cool but its not the greatest. The main draw of the rifle is that it folds in half and uses glock mags. The sights are flimsy, you can't mount things on the upper rail like an optic unless you get an rotating hand rail. The rifle is mostly plastic.

That being said the only reason I want one is because it folds up. I want it to use as a emergency firearm, or to keep stashed in my truck.

The JR carbine is much better quality, and is more like a real gun and not a novelty. It is more metal and doesn't feel cheep.

That is just my 2 cents.

The Kel Tec Sub 2000 is easy to take apart to clean. The JR Carbine requires tools and is a bit of a pain. However, the JR is easily to customize and there are tons of options for it. It is harder to find things for the Kel Tec, and some manufacturers such as Red Lion won't ship to Canada. That being said, after spending a substantial sum on upgrades for my JR, it has ran flawlessly.

I looked at both too...I think once the novelty wears off of the folding feature, you're going to want something solid that you can hold firm. My 2 cents.

Go for a kel tec, I love mine :) it shoots great , super reliable and really light too. I prefer the feel over a JR, but my subbie has a hogue grip on it now too lol. I wouldnt worry about the plastic either all important parts are metal and it comes apart really easy too :) If you are looking for a range toy to hang a bunch of lasers and lights off of teh JR would be better but if you want a solid truck / plinking gun then I would go for the Sub

Jr carbine hands down way better firearm. Sub 2k is a $300 (not in Canada) novelty gun. The jr accepts readily Avilable aftermarket parts and my 9mm runs awesome, always has. People keep complaining about the cleaning hassle of the jr but really it takes about 5 extra minutes over any of my other guns. The jr is loads of fun. Good luck in your quest.

I just recently picked up a Sub2K, and it's quite nice. It does not seem as high a quality as the RFB or KSG, and there are a number of sharp edges that needed to be broken down a bit, but after that it was good to go. It reminds me a lot of the MP5 when I dump the bolt from a locked open position to battery. Out of the box, with the less than stellar sights, we were making 3" groups at 25 meters. In terms of accessories - I know there are some available, but in reality, I like the plain simplicity of the gun as it sits. It folds easily, can be locked in the folded position for storage and fits very easily into my pack. Yes it's more expensive here than in the US, especially if you buy one of the EE, but I was more than comfortable with the retail price I paid from Lanz Shooting Supplies (God bless you Seth - rest well).
