Jack Rabbits 17 Hornet Effective

We have quiet a few of these small deer running around the farm right now, permit to destroy nuisance animals renders some .

This guy stopped in his tracks at about 150 yards offhand while hunkering down in a patch of tall grass, don't get ###y center of mass shot that placed a bit farther back than I'd have liked.

This little 17 Hornet in the CZ 527 holds into an inch at 100 yards easily.

Nice rifle! I have the exact same one! Mine has yet to draw blood though. I had it and a cz 452 .22 out yesterday for a gopher day. The few patches we stumbled across weren't more than 100y across, so the .22 saw a lot of action yesterday. The .17 stayed nice and clean for another day!

And you're absolutely right, these 527's are very accurate out of the box. I haven't started to develop a load for the .17H yet, just been using factory Hornady ammo so far. Easily under 1moa with the factory stuff!

Nice jack & beauty rifle. It would be fun to load some 25 gr. Hornady HP bullets to around 2700 fps. as "pelt savers" on coyotes, beavers & coons at around 200 yds. or so.

I have the same rifle and I also really like mine, so far I have only shot factory stuff in mine to and it is also well under a inch at 100 yards. Going to shoot off what I have and work up a load for it. The 527 is A really nice shouldering light feeling rifle. I have used mine on gophers and pidgins, very effective on both.

Holy! That is either one little rifle or one BIG bunny! Nice rifle and scope combo, and great story too. Always liked the look of those CZs, have one of their pistols, might be time to get one of their rifles now too.

I've eaten plenty of Cotton tails but never a Jack. They are purported to be a tad stringy.

Nice rifle, mine is the varmint model. No gophers this year so mine is shooting paper so far and i'm looking for dies to reload. Got a good deal on a case of Hornady ammo from North Pro so i will have lots of brass.
