Guess?
I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, but if I was in the US for a month or so, could I pick up a JAE stock and bring it back to Canada???

No.

I think, if caught, you would get in trouble with the US, not Canada as it is the US that restricts the export.

I would not want to be on a US "watch that guy" list.

wolverine supplies was carrying JAE ...... maybe give them a call?
would sure beat meeting the locals in a US prison cell and who knows where you would end up trying to sneak a battle rifle stock into evil kanukistan :D

by mid 2011 , my full range of custom composite M14 stocks will be availlable thru dealers, there will be 3 possibly 4 different versions and I am expanding after that to stocks for a couple other popular semi autos. One of my winter projects will be designing and building for a client , a version of my M14SA2 tactical but not for the M14.... for a 300 win mag SAKO bolt action :)
I will have an NM stock similar to what Mcmillan offers for the M14 as well. My guess is I utilize many of the same techniques and materials as McMillan and other composite stock makers, but here in Canada with no hassle such as border jumping with items not approved for export hehehe :D
can't help you with the JAE though, the EE or a call to wolverine supplies is the best advice i have

You yourself take the chance of a stop and search ... if they find it you're hooped ... was going to have my father bring back a M1 Garand stock from DGR restorations as they make beautiful stocks ... however, thought I don't want to see me poor old fadder stuck in jail in the lovely USA. :D He has a house in Phoenix and goes across the border lots and never gets checked ... but I wouldn't ask him to do me that favour.
