So i was surfing through the channels last night when I see a couple of beagles getting released and guys obviously hunting behind them. The narrators voice is familiar and my wife says "Thats Jamie Oliver" FYI JO is a young English chef with a couple of his own cooking shows. He misses his shot on a wild boar (slug gun I think) . Later he is seen next to the Boar while they dress it out complete with gut pile (kids pool actually) He then goes on to explain in a fairly eloquent manner the reasons why people should hunt and kill animals. I suggest you all do as I did and send foodtv a letter becuase a you know damn well the anti's watching did not like hearing the hip young chef saying that if you've got a problem with people killing animals to eat you're full of bull####!

I saw that episode a short while ago and really liked it.

I'm not a fan of JO normally (he spits all over the place and I can't understand him...) but I like the way he didn't just how the boar is cooked.

He showed eveything from the hunt to the cleaning to the cooking and talked about how it is important for people to understand where there food comes from as it will give them a greater appreciation for cooking and eating.

It looked like he almost shot one of those beagle hounds though

That was the first time I saw him, that episode. Suddenly, my respect for the guy shot right up. Easy to like a guy like that. And he's not afraid to swear, or get pissed with the locals.

Saw that episode as well. I watch all his stuf. He cooks like I do... :D

I’m not sure if this is the correct place to send this, but there are no show comment links on the FOOD Network website.

I saw this show and wanted to comment on how wonderfully surprised and happy I am at a show that didn’t put a negative spin on hunting.

I don’t hunt often, but I am getting used to the politically correct movement being the only side represented in any discussion. It was nice to see Jamie enjoying something he obviously loves, without any reservation.

BRAVO to Alliance for having the guts to air that show. I am now a regular watcher.

Tis a pity he's such a w@nker! Hugh Fearningly Whittingstall say that after beer, has a better show, River Cottage! You see him stalk deer, shoot pheasants, fish and do it all justice. The guy sells pig in a day course for £250 but you eat like a god. For those who are tight like me you can buy his DVDs instead!

Many of the Food Network types are "pro-game" ... Mario Batali, Bobby Flay and east-coast Cdn. Michael Smith for sure, all enjoy cooking & eating game.
And many of those featured on the "Cook like a Chef" program featured Canadian Chefs ... the vast majority of which featured game in many of their shows. Mark McKeown (sp.?) and Jamie Kennedy are two of Toronto's top chefs (North 44 & JKRoM ) and both have a phenomenal client following. Both also do a superb job on game ! (including the wild variety at private functions ! )
