Anyone know much about Miroku shotguns? Friend got one in an estate dispersal, it’s hardwood with a vent rib, appears to be approx. 20 years old. Thoughts on value?

Thanks!

In very good condition at $400 - snap it up. That would be a very good buy for an entry Trap gun.
The predecessor to the BT99, Miroku-made single shot was made 1966-1976, from a quick internet search.

I own a Miroku Charles Daley SBT. It is essentially a prototype BT99 but the internals are different. It uses leaf springs like a Perazzi for the hammers. Basically unobtanium. If you buy one and it breaks you will have a hard time finding parts. Realistically, you won't find one for sale for much less than 800.00 but I doubt they would actually be worth that much.

No, you can't get new parts but any competent gunsmith can make a replacement spring, especially if he has all the pieces of the old one. Then again, Beretta doesn't stock parts for 40-50 year old models either. As a casual or beginner's gun it won't be expected to deliver 5,000 to 10,000 round per year, year after year, it should serve fine in that role and suit the appropriate budget.

Oh, you can keep them running. But the question is whether you want to or not. I'm always tinkering with guns so it doesn't bother me. Other people want a new gun. IMHO, the early Miroku shotguns ( and the later ones as well) are excellent quality and infinitely better than the recent crop of "inexpensive" Turkish guns.
