I love it, and keep looking for one at a reasonable price (to me). Not too many places sell it up here. I was apparently the last person to see the version they did for Canadian rangers, would have nailed that one for the fun of it if I had paid attention.
All that said. This gun is a Steyr/Cooper combo, and a lot of what Steyr brought to it is questionable, as Cooper often said in his Gossip Columns. They got the weight and scope mounting better than most, but they tarted it up with stuff that is a little weird like the bi-pod, the .223 clambering. Cooper was always a KISS guy, Steyr is not. What they did is tremendously clever, but whether it stays as close to the real Scout as the brief required is for everyone with a clue to decided. If you look what Ruger did, making a weird tactical combo, it still remains to have someone make a version that gets the balance of the rifle right down the middle between the tactical and sporting uses, which we don't have in commercial versions.
