I just got a new scope on my .22-250 with 1/8" click adjustments. I was just wondering how to work these. Say at 400yrds with a 100yrd zero, the bullet drops 26 inches. Would i turn the turrets 52 clicks to put it 6.5 inches high at 100yrds?

Also does anybody know a site with good drop charts?

sry about the title

Not quite that simple. Each click will bring you up 1/8MOA; 8 clicks will bring you up very close to 1" at 100. This is where you need an external ballistics chart. Working backward, your velocity with a 55 gr bullet would be about 3250 fps (a tad slow for a 22-250). To be zeroed at 400, you would need to be about 6.5 inches high at 100.

8 clicks/inch X 6.5 inches= 52 clicks. So somewhere around 50 clicks will put you on paper at 400. Best thing is to sight in at the range you plan to shoot, in this case 400yd.

There is a good item in the March 31 Blog on the 6mmbr website that talks about evaluating the accuracy of your scope's adjustments, I have used a very similar technique with a wooden yardstick (bigger numbers).

To summarize, one of the points they make is that not all scopes are accurate in the clicks-per-MOA department and the further you shoot, the bigger the degree of error, obviously.
