are they as good as the steel ones? I know they will not soak up the recoil the same, but it will be in 9mm, so not a big deal? I might prefer a lighter pistol. thoughts?

Go steel, sure it is a bit heavier but works well as a club after it runs dry. I have a jericho .45 in steel

Steel specifically when doing the larger caliber. Steel is heavier and compensates for the recoil. Better find one and try at least dry-firing so you can feel the trigger and the grip. Jericho is a good pistol out of the box. The only downside is the scarcity of accessories. Finish is also on the not-so-desirable condition. It scratches easily and likely will be a common issue when holstered. If you can find a hard-chromed version, that is the way to go.
I have nothing against polymer pistols. But I still believe in the strength of steel, even alloys to outlast polymers in reliability.

Steel. the poly just looks ugly with the writing on the being inside a box...

Hard chrome is the way to go. Mine still looks like when I first got it 5000+ rounds ago. I would only consider the poly if it was a daily carry or something along those lines.

I agonized over poly or steel for months and finally settled on steel. I don't regret the decision one bit. Your fingers might not fit the grooves of the poly Jericho, but there's a variety of grips you can get for the steel version like Hogue.

From now on, I will only ever have steel frames when I have the choice. I have nothing against poly but really prefer the stability and durability steel has to offer. I love my Jericho and will never sell it.
