Jewelled 9422 Bolt?

Hello Folks,

I have a 1974 Winchester 9422.

The bolt has been "jewelled".

Has anyone ever encountered this or was it Bubba's handiwork?

As far as I know that was not a factory option from Winchester. A lovely rifle though and a shame they aren't produced anymore.

Easy to remove with some 400 grit paper and a flat block of wood if not correct.

You can also get a new bolt from a few sources if you prefer.

Thanks..Yes, I found a couple of sources.

They run around $70 for the bare bolt.

But, before I did that I wanted to confirm that it was not a "stock" item.

I saw mentions of the Scout commemorative having a jewelled bolt but couldn't find any photos with one actually polished like mine.
