JHP for P38 / P1 pistol

Anyone got good recommendations? Seems to be hit or miss with JHP. I know the Hornady Custom ones seem to stovepipe once per mag.

When I ran a p38 I actually had good luck with federal hydro shocks. Though they are quite pricey as plinking ammo.

No matter the brand, JHP ammo usually loaded way too hot for P38/P1. These guns are not built for the HP ammo. Slide cracks and locking block can be damaged due to the excessive pressure and velocity which JHP needs to have in order to do its thing. If its reloads then ok, but it needs bullet that seats low in the case and has conical shape to feed reliably.

Depends a lot on the Hp ammo. Some is designed to run slower, open quickly, and be less likely to penetrate walls, like self some brands of defence ammo.
