I was looking to order more pellets and some oil when I thought I'd look back at this post and saw a question so 6 months later.....
I really like the rifle. The trigger is the worst ever and I'm definitely going to get a new one from scopes and ammo. The trigger has cost me several rats, and with the rat problem associated with owning chickens that really sucks.
The heft and feel of the rifle is great, I believe I'm getting quality practice for shooting my hunting rifles. All in all I think the rifle is worth upgrading trigger and scope. I have been working on my offhand(silhouette style) technique and have shot several rats at 10m offhand. The rifle is sensitive, I was shooting apples that had fallen from our tree to try to figure out why I had missed several rats when I discovered this. If I let the forend contact something solid it throws the shot, if I support with my hand it's bang on. If I let the bottom of the pistol grip contact a solid surface it throws the shot, if I support the rifle it's bang on. I did research the "artillery hold" and that works. Seated at the picnic table with rifle shouldered and elbows supporting works. Offhand with silhouette(bone structure) hold works. I haven't tried bags but since I'm mostly shooting rats field positions rule.
Performance, I have crossman premiere .22 hollowpoints. I get 450fps with these 14.1gr lead pellets +/- 10fps according to my chronograph. It is devastating on rats. Some shots leave a lot of gore and many pass through. I did shoot a smallish rat at the base of the tail and the pellet exited the forehead! I head shot one facing me and the pellet exited just ahead of the rear leg pulling out a lot of intestine. Apologies to the squeamish.
humantorch, hows that Regal performing?
